Do the ADCs do faster conversions? IIRC the 16/18 series devices have reaso=
nably slow conversion (take several instruction cycles).=20

Or it may just be more noise put into the supply from the chip due to the f=
aster internal clocking (IIRC these chips have PLLs that multiply the exter=
nal clock by rather more than 4 or so times).
