Bought a couple, built a programmer (Tait)=20 and downloaded the Parallax assembler. After getting comfortable with=20 them, I went to buy more and found they were obsolete / not available=20 (at least, not from Digikey). I couldn't believe it, so many internet=20 projects used them. Turns out, the 16F84 is a drop-in replacement. No=20 circuit changes, programs the same, etc. So there really is no need to=20 continue making the 16C84.
