The intention with the posting, was to warn people that some electronics=20 hardware supply/prices, in this case HDD's, was coming to be an issue,=20 and my experience on this topic with particular vendor. The $40 wasn't=20 so much an issue, as was the fact that, it took a 2nd phone call from me=20 to determine the facts, that natural catastrophe was the cause, but the=20 vendor's action were less than great! Checking other vendor's web sites,=20 revealed small selection, and high prices. Fry's (2 weeks ago I spent a=20 couple of hours browsing their Atlanta store, and was very impressed)=20 the other night, explained the situation, limited HDD purchases to 1 per=20 customer, and the selection was few! The end result: MCM offered a 20%=20 discount and free shipping next order, that I applied to this order. I=20 had refused delivery of the UPS shipment, later same day, agreed to the=20 terms, MCM was able to contact UPS, turn around the package, and was=20 delivered later the scheduled day. I have placed myself back on the=20 mailing list. A day later the HDD was online, "Out of Stock" at the=20 higher price. I had suggested to MCM, that when a situation like this=20 occurs, to discontinue the low price SKU, assign a new SKU at the new=20 price, and then when going for the old SKU to provide a link to the new=20 SKU, and other options. :) On 11/11/2011 5:30 PM, RussellMc wrote: > Hat: Spring bonnet (southern hemisphere). > > > It would be really really good if the mild and harmless banter on this > thread does not inexplicably turn into something less pleasant, as > inexplicably seems to happen often enough when harmless banterings of > this sort arise. > > Of itself I'm not even overly concerned if people turn harmless > banterings into pushings and shovings - guys have to do what guys seem > to have to do on occasion, who can say why.
