>> Are there any other microcontrollers/mpus [with MIPS architecture] LOTS of MPUs/SoCs. Cavium, PMC-Sierra, and Broadcom, haven't been =20 mentioned yet. Many modern cisco routers have high-end MIPS processors, for example. =20 Significant numbers of relatively small fabless SoC vendors trying to =20 put together the ideal combination of bits to attract cisco and =20 similar companies. They tend to be targeted toward high-end embedded =20 systems (external RAM) where they're not so obvious (while ARM has =20 been aimed toward lower-end systems like cell phones.) See for =20 instance the Cavium Octeon family, featuring up to 32 cores at 1.5GHz. (It's not like MIPS didn't TRY to get the low end as well; I have an =20 old PDA I won at some "MIPS Inside" trade-show. They just lost out...) Microchip is the only vendor I know of with a MIPS-based =20 microcontroller.
