This *may* be a world first. Discounting the Gabon? Uranium Mine reactions, Self criticism can be useful, I'm told. Self criticality sounds a bit more risky. I'm not aware of anything ever before having gone self critical and maintained that state stably spontaneously with no human involvement whatsoever in any part of the process. It's not 100%sure from the reports if i really has now, but they are reporting that it appears to have. This may be a welcome attitude of full disclosure and may be intended to cover them for worst case outcome. The implied worst case outcome sounds like a bit of a hole in the Fukushima foreshore and no future need to work on decommissioning Fukushima 1,2 and 3 reactors. And maybe no need to ever deal with others there that that are so far undamaged. Whether is / was actually "self critical" seems to be a case of apparently / maybe. What limits how critical such a reaction goes or may become would be of interest. Especially, I imagine, if you were working on the site. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-11-02/tepco-detects-nuclear-fission-a= t-damaged-fukushima-station.html Gabon natural nuclear "reactors" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_nuclear_fission_reactor Russell --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
