Yep, felt pretty disabled.  But alas the answer was found (on mchip's =20
forum).  Apparently I missed that some part of the SFR space was not =20
in the access bank.  In my case, specifically ANSEL's and VREFCON's =20
were not being set properly because of this.

So got my legs back, but seems hair won't grow back. :(
