I can however offer my experience in that Xilinx generally ensures that new parts are less expensive per gate then the previous generation. How much less can depend quite a bit. Go with the 6. It's a great family. The V7 based parts promise ALOT of good stuff, but if S6 offers what you need, don't bother waiting. Why do you want a V7 based part? Is price the only reason?
