I have several of the 16f648-ICD modules (and many others) - I find=20 them to be invaluable for debugging both simple and complex code and=20 hardware problems. In my honest opinion, they are very much worth the cost. Be sure to purchase at least two of them - that lets you keep working=20 if you 'Oops' the module. Do note that these modules are covered=20 under Microchip's SAR program, which means that you can get them=20 fixed for free if you do make a mistake and fry one. Basically, you=20 open a support ticket at Microchip's support website, they eventually=20 get around to talking to you about the problem (which is easy if you=20 have a 2nd unit that is currently working properly), then they send=20 you a replacement along with shipping instructions for returning the=20 defective unit.
