I asked about making a regulator before.  I was told most small engine use =
a shunt regulator which shunts the current to ground when the battery volta=
ge is optimal.  I was wondering if it would work to turn on an SCR which wo=
uld shunt pulses of current to the battery until the battery voltage was op=
timal.
