No, not the same speed. The majority of use that this converter has had is =
a
direct interface to a GPS unit which is 4800 8N1. That has performed
flawlessly.

I'm going to try that shortly. I settled on 57600 because it has enough
headroom for the amount of data I will eventually be wanting to send, and
because the BRG calculation results in quite a low error. Some of the lower
speeds are out by a considerably larger margin.
