Hi: I've got the Nikon D300s. It differs from the D300 in that the "s"=20 version can make videos at low, medium and high resolution. High being=20 16:9 and 720p. A key advantage is that you can crank up the ISO to 3200=20 so it works great without adding flood lights. Another advantage is=20 that you can get shallow depth of focus, so a "focus puller" has=20 something to do. There are even some modern lenses that do NOT have=20 auto focus just for this application. Nikon has just introduced their=20 "1" camera that's a high end point and shoot with interchangable lens=20 (but not interchangeable with the Nikon SLR lens family). One of the=20 models has a number of movie features including a special lens. I'd bet=20 that Nikon will shortly be introducing a new DSLR camera (D3s?) (that=20 uses the Nikon FX (full frame) SLR lens family) that will do 1080p24 and=20 will be a full frame camera and have features optimized for movie=20 applications (remote control of the movie functions would be nice). Canon has a couple of DSLR cameras (7D and 5D MkII) that do 1080p and=20 the 7D will do 1080p24 (i.e. the movie format). A number of these high=20 end cameras (but not the D300s) can also do high frame rates (slo mo). There are already steady-cam rigs under $100 for DSLR movie cameras as=20 well as focus pulling accessories, larger remote LCD screens, etc. --=20 Have Fun, Brooke Clarke http://www.PRC68.com --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
