Others will have more recent and more practical comment, but I'd say it would probably be OK enough. Digital TV does a marvellous job of making old dead antennae look almost respectable. The antenna requirements are modest and a fairly savage VSWR or less than optimum gain is probably going to be more acceptable than in most cases. Conductor diameter can affect impedance when in proximity to other conductors (this is used for matching in some designs) but the relative closeness of sizes in your case should be OK enough. Skin effect has signal on outside of the bundle. Good contact between twisted together wires MAY help but I'd guess they could almost be mutually insulated and still be OK.
