I don't see what the big deal is.  I mean, which "development system" =20
are you looking at that has a GOOD connector system that everyone =20
likes?  Besides, it's a "solved" issue; there are plenty of clones =20
with alternate pinouts, from things designed to plug into breadboards, =20
to "ruggedized" versions with screw connectors...
