Apparently they provide about 43% longer life over Duracell at high discharge rates and also last longer in mid to low power applications and MUCH longer (double) the shelf life. http://www.panasonic.com/evolta/ Interestingly enough, the price seems to be about the same. They were sayin= g the price would be about 15% higher, but compared to Duracell, my informal survey seems to show the price is about equal. And they have a fun way of promoting it: http://www.gizmag.com/panasonic-evolta-robot-ironman-challenge/19858 The previously did a "Lemans" thing where the little robot ran around a track for 24 hours, 14.82 miles, on 2 AA batteries setting a Guinness world record for "the world's longest lasting alkaline battery" http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-5000/longest-lasting-aa-alkalin= e -battery-cell/=20 There is also a rechargeable version, but I can't seem to find the specs on it other than "NEW! +30%!" Curious if anyone has looked deeper or found any problems? I've had really bad luck with Panasonic batteries in the past, so this news comes with a heavy dose of "yeah right" -- James Newton 1-970-462-7764=20 --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
