I was going to write a longer reply, but I think you're missing a =20 fundamentally simple point: Someone who graduates with a degree in X who can make an arduino (or a =20 basic stamp, or a basic52 computer) blink LED is not a loss because =20 they're not a real "microcontroller engineer" (whatever that may be.) =20 They are a net WIN because they know more about using microcontrollers =20 than they would have without that arduino knowledge (which would have =20 been about zero for most arts and sciences, and even the EEs probably =20 end up learning more about programming, and the CS students more about =20 electronics than they would have otherwise.) "Knowledge is good." Corollary: "a little knowledge is better than none."
