You KNOW in what conditions and paramters it can operate in, and where it can't. You KNOW its limits and how it performs in the conditions where you'll install it. A noob doesn't know all this and could be using it in dangerous conditions. Take the researcher example. If he's using it for analyzing sleep patterns or whatever, what if the setup throws off wrong data?
