I have very similar Linux and C running on MIPS (A PIC32 is a basic MIPS=20 for embedded applications, not ideal for Media). ARM and x86 SoC (Geode). I don't know why you'd use a PIC32 for this even if you want to use MIPS=20 core. There are many SoC suited to Media Applications.
