> I need a couple of small weather-resistant solar panels in the 12 volt, > 5 watt range, a little more or less is OK. Any suggestions for a source? > They don't need to be super heavy-duty and only need to survive a few > California winters. Advice (bumbling?): If "a couple" really means "2" then some of the following may be able to be relaxed. If "a couple" means "at least 2 but we may find it extending to 3 or 4 or ..." then - Use glass laminated crystalline silicon only. Mono or Poly ... OK. Do not use amorphous (I'm sure you wouldn't) Do not use epoxy (I'm sure you wouldn't). Do not use PET (some may be tempted). Consider various fluro plastic frontsheet panels if there seems to be a good reason to, but probably avoid. If tempted by various new fangled stuff like CdTe & fellow travellers enquire diligently about lifetimes. When using glass satisfy yourself that your precautions against resisting the local hail regime are appropriate. (No hail =3D no precautions etc). Be sure that the panel lead in wires are adequately proofed against corrosion over the desired life of the panel. (Everything lasts 2 years. Some lasts far less than 20 as supplied.)
