The spark generated inside the trigger switch that controls=20 AC-powered Weller Soldering Guns is probably an order of magnitude=20 higher than the minimum necessary to ignite gasoline fumes that are=20 proper concentration of vapor to air. (Whew - that's a long=20 sentence!). On the other hand, I don't know many techs who use=20 Soldering Guns for general electronics use. But I fail to understand where the problem might be when using a=20 non-switching-type soldering iron. Even something like a Metcal=20 station should be OK, so long as you aren't operating its power=20 switch (which also generates sparks). dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
