SATA is pretty much IDE with a few features added (like NCQ) and a new physical interface. The physical interface is the issue. It's serial, differential, and VERY fast (lowest spec SATA is 1.5Gbps). Your interface options are as you've discovered, with the addition of FPGAs. MANY cheaper FPGAs now contain the necessary hardware to interface to SATA.=20 TTYL --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
