I don't think Adam is meaning PIC + i2c, he's saying that the Pi board will most likely have i2c/SMBus support. The drivers are all there in the Linux kernel. Think SMBus and lm-sensors. In fact, I can almost guarantee it will be there, as the HDMI port uses it to talk to the display.
