IANAL.
AFAIK the ban is on using them in commercial products.
If you want to salve your conscience and end up lead neutral or
negative, consider storing an old lead acid car battery in an
environmentally sealed container. These are (or were) ROHS exempt so
you are 'saving the planet' from the evil lead overall.
