When you're looking at an 8 hour recharge time it automatically kills it for me. Even with a 1000km range I'd still have to rent a car when I wanted to actually go somewhere beyond my daily commute (remember, a 1000km range is rarely that, if it's the winter you gotta turn the heater on, in the summer, AC, stop and go traffic will KILL the range of an electric car in these situations). If, OTOH, the thing recharges in the time it takes me to refill my tank, EVERYTHING would be different. I understand the technical challenges behind such a quick recharge, but for me, the only "electric" I'd consider is something like the volt, which is an electric car, with a gas generator on board so that when you do exhaust the battery you can keep going.
