Your biggest problem is the Curie point of the transformer core. Back aroun= d the time I was finishing my apprenticeship one of the guys in the company= did a heap of work on designing a CDI unit. He made a transformer from a f= errite toroid, and as we had a small environmental chamber for temperature = testing stuff he put the unit through that. I cannot remember what temperat= ure it would fail at, but he got the unit to a point where the limiting fac= tor was the Curie point of the ferrite core. Just remember that things get = very hot under the bonnet (hood) of a car! --=20 Scanned by iCritical. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
