Is the 300V to charge the capacitor to be discharged into the ignition
coil? That seems a lot of power just for the spark.

How many cylinders your CDI will ignite? I once designed a CDI using a
small 1 cubic cm ferrite transformer switched by a single MOSFET. I
don't remember the details, but it used much less power.
