I'm not sure that tiny and cheap will go together well, but here's one that I found: http://www.stapelfeldtelectronic.de/de/pdf/SMD-Laser.pdf Whether it's cheap or not is unknown. I suspect your best bet is to find companies that do optical drives and find out who their suppliers are. Perhaps alibaba and the other worldwide supplier search sites might help. http://www.alibaba.com/products/laser_diode/--400101.html If a supplier can't help you with their product, they're very likely to be able to point you in the right direction. Keep in mind that laser diodes diverge, requiring optical collimators, which is why they are so frequently found as larger modules. The cheapest will be larger than SMT, but you can always make a jig and form the leads to make them surface mountable if required. If your requirement is for machine placement, though, then you may be in for a more expensive diode. -Adam --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
