I was implementing a finger tracking sensor, which apparently is now a popular technique with the likes of Blackberry and Nokia business phones. I found that it worked okay though I had no way of making proper optics for it so the focal point was never in the right spot. In fact Mouser stocks a system for optical finger navigation from Avago that may be fairly straightforward to apply to your system. The chip includes an IR illumination source. It does have an annoying QFN package, however. http://uk.mouser.com/avagoadbs/ Hope this helps, Brendan --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
