I'd agree here - something like the 16F1828 is a great little part.=20 Internal oscillator with PLL up to 32MHz, added stuff like a 5-bit DAC=20 and a adjustable voltage reference, debuggable without header, plus=20 other improved features I can't recall off the top of my head. It is also cheaper than the pin equivalent 16F690, which is another nice=20 part, but a bit older.
