Daughter has one of those fancy thermostats on a heat pump setup. One=20 weekend she was having a family gathering on a hot day, and the air went=20 down. What I remember similar symptoms. The service guy spent 2 hours,=20 with wires loose everywhere, before he figured out the thermostat=20 battery died after about 6 years. These fancy thermostats have been=20 around just long enough that their batteries should be replaced as a=20 routine service item.
