As vast majority of people are using Windows, bad guys just not interested writing bad stuff on Linux -- simply as they got much more money where much more people are targeted. That is not only true for malicious files and stuff, but finding vulnerabilities also, as many many hackers and security experts are constantly running automated softwares to find vulnerabilities. > Compare the speed that they get patched. If very urgent they als do rapid updates so overall not as bad except not all are applying the patches and that makes trouble. Microsoft IS to blame. Microsoft has MANY software failures and design > failures. > True, as Apple developers for Mac and iOS stuff and opensource developers for Linux and Apache and Mozilla etc vulnerabilities. People make mistakes. And that's why Microsoft makes QA and other measurements to give away quality software. I use Unix and Linux in the last 10 years or so, and Mac for 1 year. Coursing a lot -- I mean a LOT! Linux is brilliant for certain things and awful for lots of others. Anyway, we can blame people for many things but until we could not figure out a more secure way of computing the= n there is a ver little change for change. Today the best approach seems to b= e the Apple AppStore where you have to pay a lot for displaying your software= , plus there is a security check if you as developer are reliable, and then each one of the app is checked and approved by Apple stuff -- but then not so many people like this and they refuse to develop and even use Apple products. They develop for Android, which is a Linux stuff, and then you ca= n see how many malwares are out there already -- for iPhone there is only 2 s= o far, both of them for JailBraken ones... For Android it is common that you can find malicious apps in the official Android Market... Anyway, very off to this list, but do not assume that this or that is bad o= r incapable of doing something, the whole industry is suffering in the problems -- unless you know something that actually works and solves all th= e security problems, but then keep working on it as you will be the next Stev= e Jobs, Bill Gates or John Von Neumann!
