Data points:

1. Long ago an analog 9xx MHz band cellphone worked happily in a steel
filing cabinet with the drawer closed until there was just enough slot
left to visually observe the field  strength meter.

2.  Soon after the RFID security system was provided in US passports,
a White Hat conference demo blew up a rubbish bin when a selected
passport passed nearby. I do not think that they said what the bin was
made of or whether it was wearing a tinfoil hat.

Like Sean I'd suspect that the system would be leaky RF wise.
