You could consider termination on a multipole socket such that you get
access for charging and maintenance. This could be a tap per battery +
ve or, best, each battery with both leads isoalted and brought to the
socket. Add an N pole ojining plug for operation and parallel or
whatever access for charging.

Needless to say, an N pole socket has it's own problems [tm].
