I've rarely found D cells that are not actually C in a D box. On the occasion that I have found them they are expensive. there are two battery systems. LT for the 1.2V filaments 3 x HT for 45V and switched in series for TX (135V). I even considered=20 AAA for that, and PP3s. But I have space for 3 x 36 AA cells (108 cells)=20 and they are the "best value" per mAH, PP3s are only 200mAH and AAA are=20 700mAH or 1000mAH There would not be space for 135V worth of C cell! I see RS does tagged D 6000mAH for =808.93, which is a bit more expensive=20 and less capacity than 2 x 3500mAH C cell Retail shop =804 Any link for a 10 AH NiMH? or better priced D cell? splitting the heater=20 supplies into two roughly equal parts I might then get 24hrs on a pair=20 of 10AH cells. I was thinking of paralleling 4x C cells (14,000mAH), or "splitting" the=20 heater circuits into 3 equal parts (10,500mAH). The original 1.5 Ever=20 ready 1.5V was actually SIX zinc carbon D cells in parallel. One does want to have fuses integral on both battery packs :) --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
