Somewhere today the thought popped into my head that V had doomed his
argument as "KGB"  is essentially Godwin from North of the (different)
border, and lore says that he who implements Godwin is doomed to
failure.

KGB - group of people.
OKW just wouldn't cut it.

Russell's Rubric:  For the purposes of evaluating if Godwin's law has
been invoked, any of the terms "KGB", "Gestapo", "Stasi", "NKVD"
(obsolete) may be used in place of "Hitler"  when referring to groups
of people rather than individuals.
The term "CIA" may be considered efficacious only if used by natural
persons born in the old "Communist bloc".
