Look in the data sheet the leads are formed so it fits a vertical heat sink=

If you want it mounted like your drawing consider the 'Q' package yes I kno=

its SMD but its all preformed for you and will fit straight out of the tube=
..

I want to know what pattern to use on my PCB for a TO-220 5 lead regulator.

Ideally, I want to mount it like this (attached png). Would I be able to
mount it like in the attached picture? How would I bend the leads properly?
