Not really - I was wondering the same recently as I am currently using=20
the same part, and the PIC32MX440F256H also.
I think:
MX - no idea.
The 460 part is to do with the amount of ram and possibly max clock speed.
F is probably flash
512 is the flash memory
The L at the end is for 100-pin (H for 64-pin)
