Have you checked the enable line out with a scope? (as opposed to LA) If=20 not it would be worth doing so and checking how the line looks=20 with/without resistor. The fact the logic probe made a difference suggests it may have damped=20 the ringing. How long is the trace/wire to the enable line? What is driving it?
