Yes, if the problem was ringing, which is quite possible with a long line.
I haven't followed this too well so I apologise if I missed something..
Have you checked the enable line out with a scope? (as opposed to LA) If=20
not it would be worth doing so and checking how the line looks=20
with/without resistor.
The fact the logic probe made a difference suggests it may have damped=20
the ringing.
How long is the trace/wire to the enable line? What is driving it?
Unless it's very long, it sounds a bit suspicious - like there may be=20
more than "usual" capacitance/inductance on the line somehow.
