I have a workable Spectrum Analyser which was a Dick Smith Kit based on a TV tuner front end. I probably built that about 10 to 15 years ago as an indication of vintage - maybe longer. Kit has been defunct for quite some years now. I could dig out details and circuit diagram refs if of interest. Circuit and manual are liable to be on the net somewhere. Also had companion kits of comb generator, white noise source. I also have those (bought at disposal prices) but hey never got built. It was interesting to monitor the local then-analog telephone cell site (900 MHz ish) with the analyser. Motorway nearby. A channel would pop into service at high amplitude as a car handed in at extreme range, progressively step down in amplitude as the cell site was approached, step up again as it passed the site and receded then go to zero as the site handed off to the next one. Putting the group of channels to music as traffic passed through would have been interesting.
