Afaict food cans here in the UK are usually tin plated steel.

Beverage cans may be either aluminium or tin plated steel. Here in the=20
UK the domestic ones are usually aluminium but grey imports from eastern=20
europe (which can often be found in various small non-chain shops and=20
cafes) are often steel.
