Can you get away with using a standard 0.1 in receptacle?

I haven't seen any r/a IDC connectors around, I looked for something=20
similar a while back. Why is using a vertical one a problem? Does the=20
original HP pod have a right angle one? If so is there a part number=20
available anywhere? (maybe worth dropping them an e-mail, you never know=20
they might even answer.. :-) )
