Filtrete micro allergen filters are close to HEPA specs, and are available =
from
h/w store or online(e.g. filtersfast.com).  These will take care of most
particulates.  From what you are describing, you will need a chemical filte=
r to
remove man-made pollutants from downtown air.  Carbon filters should do the
trick, but for whole apartment filtration these are probably not cheap. =20

Maybe moving to a suburb is a better option? :-)
