Although I come from a Unix/Linux background, my OS of choice for the past five years now has been OS X. I still run a few Windows apps in a VM, but I try to stick with as many native apps as possible. I was pleased to find that many of options had official OS X solutions. I narrowed the list down to DipTrace and Eagle to experiment with first. DipTrace for ease of use, and Eagle for the size of the community. I discovered that DipTrace is not a native OS X app, but instead runs under Wine. Eagle, on the other hand, is a native OS X app, and actually rather well done. Without reading any manuals, I was able to figure out far more spending 15 minutes in Eagle than 15 minutes in DipTrace. I am not seeing the downsides of Eagle that many have been reporting. I have read that the UI has improved greatly in recent versions of Eagle, and it is posible that the UI is better under OS X than Windows, so these are possible explanations. There is no guarantee that I am going to stick with Eagle, but so far things look good enough to invest the time in learning it. -p. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
