He writes interesting books. I believe he included even the "monkey work" because it's all part of being complete in your work. In calculating expected lifespan of equipment in daily use we use 2000 hours per year as average. That's from 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year, five years gets you to 10000 hours. For someone slightly obsessed, it's possible to do 10000 in under three years while still at school or working.
