Assume one eighth of the day is stuff that's not monkey work, that=20 really needs "expertise" and stretches you. i.e. 1 hr a day Assume 240 working days a year. 10,000 hrs =3D about 42 years If you "really" spend most of your day doing stuff that makes you more=20 expert, then that's about 5 years. So if she is 50K hrs expert and=20 *dedicated* and started at age 3 she could be only 27 :) Common for jobs to look for 5+ years experience :) But depends a lot on the individual job as to how expert that 5 years=20 makes you. If you want to get *really expert* and proficient at something in spare=20 time 3 hours every day is maybe a minimum. A Saturday morning once a=20 week or 10mins practice a night isn't going to cut it. I first thought=20 of learning Morse code as a kid in 1969. But ultimately I didn't really=20 have the commitment, so never spent the time. Now I have a 104 button=20 "bug key" and PC decoding software. As teenager: Will I spend more time practising Clarinet or read books=20 and fiddle with the Radios and Electronic set? Electronics and Radio won. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
