These liquids are often glycol/glycerine based mixed with distilled water a= s far as I know. I've worked on many types of nightclub type fog generators= , but never over concerned myself with what the liquid was, except that whe= n I had to test I did that outside & keep away from the 'smoke' until dispe= rsed. Its supposed to be non toxic, but why take a chance. The thing is that every such unit I've seen so far needs a heater through w= hich the liquid is pumped (using a 10 Bar Ulka type vibrator pump similar t= o those used in some coffee machines) to vaporize it. The heaters take a si= gnificant time to reach operating temperature. I'd imagine this is impracti= cable for a security system, so it would be interesting to see if the outpu= t is instant when triggered.
