I haven't really been following this and didn't read all of your original message, but this sounds wrong. A ballanced mic cable may have two signal wires, but they represent a single signal differentially. The two wires could very well go into the primary of a transformer at the mixer. They ar= e not two independent channels you can send separate signals over.
