Do you have the option of treating the walls with an acoustic=20 absorber? There are many available, including home-made=20 solutions. What I have worked with is Sonex=20 which I see everywhere. >Headsets or lapel mics, even if waterproof (there are such) are out >because of the physical hassle of using them, given the activity involved. Another option is to use a microphone on a long boom pole. This is=20 what location sound recordists use when filming location video /=20 audio. The mic is held just out of camera view directly above the=20 people speaking or singing. It works extremely well - this is why=20 the audio sounds so natural when you watch much of the TV shows that=20 are filmed on location. Check your local area to see if there are any location sound=20 recordists in the area. Talk to the local TV and radio stations to=20 see if they can give you any contact information. Then visit them=20 and have a look at their equipment for ideas. I live in a fairly major metropolitan area (Edmonton) and there are=20 many location recordists and camera people here. I work with several=20 of those individuals on an irregular basis. A good mic on a boom pole doesn't have to be extremely expensive. In=20 fact, it would cost (significantly) less than the low-cost=20 Lectrosonics wireless rig I mentioned in an earlier message. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
