OK, so I might as well ask this question as well; it is related to the=20 isolated mic issue. The mic is for use during baptisms. Our baptistery area is a ~4'x~12'x~10' high box with a big bathtub with=20 steps at one end. It has a small (~4'x~4') opening on the long side of=20 the "bathtub", with bottom edge around 3.5' off of the ground, facing=20 out into the auditorium. Micing sound in this little room has proven challenging. During it's first use, we used a hand held Shure SM58 wireless mic, but=20 the pastor almost dropped it into the drink. However, because it was=20 close to his mouth, it sounded good. :-) The second time around, I used a wall mounted Audio Technica surface mic=20 (quite good quality; the exact number I cannot recall) screwed to the=20 wall inside and directly above the opening. It picked up fine, but=20 everybody sounded like they were in a soup can, even with the aid of a=20 31 band graphic equalizer. Headsets or lapel mics, even if waterproof (there are such) are out=20 because of the physical hassle of using them, given the activity involved. A gooseneck is probably out, since the area is smallish and it will get=20 in the way, and everybody's hands are likely to be wet and so touching=20 the mic or the gooseneck, or moving it is probably ill advised, clumsy,=20 and just one more thing to think about. What I am looking for is a way to mic several individuals standing in 3=20 feet of water, in close proximity, in a small room with lousy acoustics,=20 and still get a nice full sound. Any ideas? Thanks. --=20 Mark Skeels Engineer Competition Electronics, Inc.
