I guess I'm the kind of guy who needs to know *exactly* what's going on at the gate level to really understand it. I'll see how it works in a simulator or Synplify or something. It's like, no matter how hard you try, you can't *really* teach C to someone without teaching them how a computer works at the assembler level, and how things are pushed onto the stack and so on.
