Interesting. I didn't realize that there would be a difference in the "fitness". Are there different kinds of cardio-respiratory fitness? In other words, if I train so that my heart and lungs are good at sustaining high throughput over hours, is that different from training my heart and lungs to achieve a high throughput over minutes? I can understand that a sprinter would have differences in his leg muscles versus a marathoner, but I didn't think that their heart and lungs would be very different.
